One of the best known showcases and meeting points for emerging talent, the festival presents an excellent opportunity for students to showcase and promote their talents, to meet and gain advice from industry professionals, and be part of a unique environment which encourages the development of peer-to-peer connections and new collaborations.
These are just some of the opportunities available for universities, students and graduate filmmakers at the festival:
- Discounts for multiple film submissions: Ideal for university course submissions
- European New Talent Awards: Two awards (live action and animation) eligible only to Graduation films and first-time filmmakers
- Digital Viewing Library: An on-site, video on demand service showcasing all submitted films
- Student Focus Days 19 – 21 Sep: Workshops developing core skills, discussions on how to enter the industry, and other events aimed at a Student audience. - Networking events: Gain access to leading industry figures and international filmmakers.
- Student Packages including discount passes and accommodation provided by Bristol YHA.

Please note that currently prices are to be confirmed, but will be update in the new few weeks. We strongly suggest if you are interested in bringing a group of students to the festival that you contact the staff ASAP so as to avoid disappointment as packages are subject to the capacity of the YHA.

Bristol Encounters: 0117 Hour Film Challenge
This May, Encounters will once again run a short filmaking competition with a chance of winning £1,000. We will challenge filmmakers from all around the country to make a short film in 117 hours in Bristol. The competition will take place between 19 - 25 May 2012.
