ENCOUNTERS 2013 ANNOUNCES DOUBLE BRITISH GRAND PRIX WIN

SATURDAY 21 SEPTEMBER 2013

Encounters 2013 has announced its winning short films after five days of competitive screenings, with British filmmakers Jamie Stone and Felix Massie taking the Grand Prix Awards, making 2013 the first year with a double British win.

Each year the  ‘Future Encounters’ strand highlights ten upcoming filmmakers and animators whose work demonstrates a distinctive, cinematic and artistic vision that makes them ones to watch at this year’s festival. ENCOUNTERS ANNOUNCES SWISS THEME FOR 2013

WEDNESDAY 17 JULY 2013

This year the festival has announced a Swiss Focus in partnership with Swiss Films and Internationale Kurzfilmtage Winterthur, and supported by the Swiss Embassy, The Swiss Cultural Fund in Britain and Helvetic Airways. This diverse programme includes screenings of short format work from upcoming filmmakers and animators, a live music event, an artist’s installation, a filmmaker focus and a Pop-Up Cine Chalet.

The third edition of the 0117 Hour Digital Short Challenge crowned emerging filmmakers Bristol Sprout as the winning team, with their short film dedicated to championing the work of overnight cleaning teams on our country’s railways taking the £1000 prize on Friday 19 April.

The Creative Business Of Producing Animation Course

The 17th Bristol Encounters International Film Festival came to a close on Sunday 20th November after an action-packed 5-day programme brimming with talent, inventiveness and imagination. Showcasing the latest short films and animation from established and new filmmakers alongside a host of exclusive special events such as Bruce Robinson’s career retrospective with Directors UK, to one of the most innovative animators of his time, John K selecting his Desert Island Flicks, this year’s festival was a huge success.

Bristol Encounters 0117 Hour Film Challenge Completed: A short Ride To Success

A total of 50 teams registered, 37 teams took part, and 30 films were finally handed in by the competition deadline. A variety of filmmakers took part, from professionals to students, film enthusiasts and artists, who each responded to the museum through an assortment of styles and genres, from live action drama, to animation, documentary, performance, experimental and even 3D.
