Karni Arieli studied photography at Bezalel Academy of Art and Design, Jerusalem. Saul Freed studied art and music and is a self-taught 3D animator. The pair relocated from Israel to London in 2002 and started working as a directing team, making commercials and music videos.
In 2006, their animated short The Red Suitcase was screened at Encounters, Rushes and Clermont-Ferrand. Their music video Float won Best Animated Promo, Annecy 2009 and winner of British Animation Awards 2010. In 2010 Karni & Saul showcased their short film Turning, which then went onto feature at 15 festivals worldwide, and was nominated for a BAFTA in 2011.
