Every year the success of the festival depends upon the efforts and involvement of our Sponsors, and we are forever thankful for this generous support, without which the festival would not be possible.
Now more than ever the festival needs the support of its sponsors. We are seeking people to join our global community, to champion the development of new talent and advocate the importance of short film as a means to progress the next generation of filmmakers and animators.

This year we are delighted to announce a variety of new sponsorship opportunities. From outreach to high profile events, support the development of new talent and new audiences, and celebrate the short form.
Sponsor an Award:
The sponsorship of an award allows you to directly support new talent in the industry. The acceptance of an award for a short filmmaker can lead to a distribution deal, a commission, or the funding to develop their next, award winning project. We are currently looking for support towards two awards:
Documentary Award: 2011 sees the return of a Documentary Award. Now more than ever is there a passion in short filmmakers to challenge and discuss world issues. We would like to give them platform at Encounters to start this debate.
Experimental Award: 2011 sees the introduction of a new Experimental Award. Experimental film influences all areas of culture and art, from instillation, to fashion, television and even advertising. We would like to celebrate the filmmakers who take this risk, who ask different questions and who ultimately set the trends.
Sponsor a Gala Event:
Each year Encounters hosts a series of high profile, sell-out, Gala Events, drawing large public audiences from all backgrounds and gaining considerable local and national coverage. From 2011, the festival is seeking support to host a Gala event every night of the festival.
Hosting a programme of cross platform activity, Encounters will engage with other art forms such as performing arts and music, to create cinematic, dynamic, and trend setting events.
Previous Gala Events have included Desert Island Flicks with comedian Tim Minchin, a video instillation party at Spike Island gallery, cocktail parties sailing across the Bristol Docks on the Matthew, a replica of a 15th century tall ship, and more.
Sponsor Short Film in Schools:
Inspiring the creativity and minds of our future audiences, every year Encounters takes short film out and beyond the cinema, and into local schools in Bristol. To ensure the filmmakers of tomorrow are inspired today, we need your support to do this. The festival is seeking sponsorship to run a series of School workshops and the 2011 Young People’s Jury Award.
Annually the festival takes a dedicated short film programme to a variety of schools around Bristol. Children from different years are encouraged to watch and develop an understanding of the cinematic language used in short film and introduce the possibility for critical awareness. The children are then asked to vote for their favourite film and the filmmaker is awarded at the festival, for their ability to effectively communicate to our younger audiences.
