Fresh Flix

Encounters Festivals Ltd is a registered charity to present events throughout the year to support, develop and nurture new talent in film and animation. After the success of 2009’s Fresh Flix Young People’s Film Festival, Encounters has teamed up with the Watershed to deliver Fresh Flix 2010 (17 November – 1 December).

Fresh Flix aims to inspire and celebrate young creative talent from Bristol and beyond. Through Fresh Flix, young and family audiences will be encouraged to participate in targeted workshops and attend showcases of young people’s creative work. Encounters and the Watershed will also be working with local organisations such as Bristol City Council, Knowle West Media Centre and many more to deliver this event.

Electric December

Electric December is an online advent calendar which features 24 days of digital delights during the run up to Christmas. A Watershed project, Electric December is an online showcase of young creative talent from Bristol and around the world. Films submitted to Electric December are screened via electricdecember.org, which receives thousands of hits from over 90 countries worldwide. They are also screened through the official Electric December DVD and on BBC Big Screens throughout the UK.

Last year’s winners of Electric December received a travel bursary to attend BUFF Young People’s Film Festival in Malmo, Sweden and took part in workshops, met key people from the industry, screened their films in a cinema and generally had a fantastic film-filled weekend. Read the diary from their trip.

The deadline for submissions to Electric December is 15th October 2010, and will be launched on the 1st December.
