Fresh Flix came to a celebratory end before Christmas, marked by the end of Electric December- Watershed's online digital advent calendar.  The month of events to celebrate and inspire young people, presented by Watershed and Encounters was a great success with Astonishing! Amazing! Interesting! Brilliant! Yay! just some of the words used to describe it. One teenager even said of Louder Than a Bomb - a documentary film about the world's largest youth poetry slam in Chicago that 'This film may have changed my life.’

This year the cross art-form event featured a fantastic programme of film, music and poetry for young people, children and their families. Over 21 events, Fresh Flix saw 785 people take part of whom 490 were children and young people.

From an exclusive BAFTA Masterclass with screenwriter Tony Marchant (The Mark of Cain, Recovery and Holding On), a unique film score experience with the likes of Tony Orrell aka The Bird Man of Alkajazz, to a special model making workshop with Jim Parkyn from Aardman Animations, there was an abundance of eclectic, fun and exciting events to inspire young people from across the region.

‘It was a great mix of interactive and presentation based elements. Getting a sample of a real shooting script was great’, said a young person at BAFTA Masterclass with Tony Marchant
