FAMILIA 068
The Wellcome Collection presents 'Dirt Screen' this month, a day for championing the underdog through screenings of the finest dirty documentaries and shorts with insights into why and how the films were made. Follow those who recycle refuse into art on Brazil's largest landfill in 'Waste Land'. Uncover the scandal of ground water contamination in North America's most polluted gas drilling sites in 'Gasland', and watch the Berwick Street Collective's seminal 1970s documentary on the rights of 'Nightcleaners'.
Encounters will be presenting a special programme of animated and live action dirty shorts, including FAMILIA 068 (FAMILY 068), a short documentary exploring the life of a family that lives among hundreds of others in the biggest dump in Nicaragua, and A FILM ABOUT POO, a sing along journey exploring the things you should and should not do...with poo.
The short film programme will be running on a 60 minute loop from 12.00 - 18.00 in the Forum.
Feature Screenings:
12.00-14.35 Waste Land (98 mins) followed by Q&A with the film's producer, Angus Aynsley
15.20-18.00 Gasland (104 mins) followed by Q&A with an environmental expert.
