Fast becoming of Britain's most respected directors, Andrea Arnold follows her feature debut Red Road and acclaimed Oscar® winning short film Wasp with an equally powerful drama of a female on the margins, featuring a remarkable performance from non-professional newcomer Katie Jarvis as 15 year-old Mia. Foul-mouthed and feisty, she lives with her single mother and dreams of being a dancer and leaving behind her council flat existence, but a dramatic change arrives in the form of her mother's charismatic new boyfriend (Michael Fassbender, Hunger) when the two form a strong but suspect bond. With intimate realism and subtle complexity, Fish Tank bravely explores the uncertainties of female adolescent sexuality. Arnold is breathing new life back into British realism with a lyrical jolt.
