Peter Lord presents: Alexander Shiryaev: A Belated Premier

Programme presented by Peter Lord, David Robinson and Viktor Bocharov.
The films of Alexander Shiryaev (1867-1941) remained unknown for almost a century. Originally made between 1905-09, they were saved from near destruction in the 1960s by the photographer Daniil Saveliev, who preserved them until the filmmaker and historian Viktor Bocharov acquired the archive in 1995. In order to make Shiryaev’s work known, Bocharov made a documentary A Belated Premiere (2003), which is here shown for the first time in the UK.

Geoffrey Taylor made a First Light Movies film when he was 18-years-old, which won the Best Film category at the First Light Awards 2005. His second film won the Vividas Award for young filmmakers and his third film, his first digital short has just been release. This retrospective of Geoffrey’s and First Light Movies work aims to inspire new and young film makers to get out there and start making your own films. Come along and see Geoffrey’s work, ask questions and see what advice he can give budding young filmmakers.
