The 0117 Hour Digital Short Challenge
Between 13-19 April 2013 we invited filmmakers, animators, visual and sound artists to make digital shorts in just 117 hours, focused on the theme of 'Journeys' and exploring Bristol Temple Quarter for the chance to win £1,000!
Presented by Bristol Film Office, Encounters Short Film and Animation Festival and M Shed, this year the 0117 Hour Challlenge marked its third edition (take a look at 2012's results here). This high-energy event is part of a series of Bristol Temple Quarter commissions coordinated by Watershed, Knowle West Media Centre and MAYK, with support from Bristol City Council and Arts Council England.
Bristol Sprout wins the Challenge!
Congratulations to Luka Bajt and Yoon Duck Kim of the Bristol Sprout team for their 0117 Challenge win! Our jury was impressed by their beautifully shot documentary 'Behind the Journey', which was filmed in the First Depot at Temple Meads and went behind the scenes with the night workers who make sure that trains are clean and ready for service.
Luka and Yoon met whilst studying MA Animation at University of West of England in Bristol. Luka had this to say about their Challenge experience:
“Even after living here for two years, I never really thought of this wonderful city as my home. But having the opportunity of meeting the incredibly friendly and helpful crew at the Bristol train depot, and being welcomed so warmly and kindly by the challenge crew, and other contestants, I really consider myself being part of this great city and its culture. This is, I feel, the biggest strength of the challenge; Creating and sustaining a very unique creative culture in Bristol, for both new and old Bristolians."
